Program Notes
"Evolution" is a short story about the tumultuous beginnings of life. This piece is a portrayal of the relentless struggle for survival, the resilience of living organisms, and the dramatic transitions that have shaped the course of existence over billions of years.
The opening section represents the primordial oceans. Out of these dark, mysterious depths, the first life forms emerge, tentatively exploring their surroundings. Wonder and caution pervade as they navigate an environment that is nurturing but perilous.
"Evolution" delves into the darker side of nature’s grand experiment: the mass extinctions that punctuate Earth’s history. There are moments of quiet introspection, representing the quiet resilience of life, hanging on by a thread.
In "Evolution," the orchestra strains to embody the grandeur and complexity of life’s journey, from its fragile beginnings to its dramatic transformations.
