Program Notes

Music for String Quartet and Piano, a title that is reminiscent of Morton Feldman’s Music for Piano and String Quartet is a work in seven parts, with each part representing a moment from childhood. No. 3 is an homage to Morton Feldman’s work but the other movements serve a much different purpose.

The music moves from loud and messy to calm and serene and tells the stories of life at my childhood home and the surrounding property. There was a large pasture, a garden, and lots of grass covered yard space for play and adventure.

These seven moments try to impart the world of a child as examined later through adult eyes.
